Dr. R. Michael Graham, a native of Connecticut, earned a bachelor's degree from Colgate University. He completed his MD degree, as well as a Masters in Biology at New York University.
With an early interest in systemic disease, Dr. Graham was awarded an Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins University. While there, he acquired a more specific interest in bone and joint disorders. He went on to complete an Orthopaedic Surgical residency at the State University of New York, followed by a Foot and Ankle fellowship at the University of Southern California under the direction of Dr. William Wagner, a worldrenowned authority on diabetic foot care.
Dr. Graham came to Hampton Roads in 1989 to begin his practice. Since that time, as head of the Foot and Ankle division of Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists, he has treated thousands of patients in his office and has performed hundreds of surgical cases per year.
He opened the Orthopaedic Center for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in 2005 establishing a new model of excellence in Hampton Roads for treating foot and ankle disorders. Recognizing a medical need on the Peninsula, in March of 2008, a second Foot and Ankle Center opened at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News.
