Dr. R. Michael Graham, a native of Greenwich, Connecticut earned his BA from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY in 1973. He then completed an MD, Masters program (M.S. in Biology) at New York University, in NYC.
Initially interested in systemic disease he was rewarded an Internal Medicine Residency at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. It was there that he acquired a more specific interest in bone and joint disorders. He went on to complete his orthopaedic surgical residency at the State University of NY at Buffalo, and his Foot and Ankle Fellowship training at the University of Southern California under the direction of Dr. William Wagner, a world renowned authority on diabetic footcare.
Dr. Graham came to Hampton Roads in 1989 to begin his Foot and Ankle practice. Since that time, as head of the Foot and Ankle division of Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists, he has treated thousands of patients in his office and has performed hundreds of surgical cases per year. Within the past six months Dr. Graham has left Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists to open the Orthopaedic Center for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction (OCFAR) at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, establishing a new treatment model that is specifically designed to optimize care for foot and ankle disorders in the Hampton Roads area.
Dr. Graham is a member in good standing of the American Medical Association, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also an active member of the Virginia Medial Society.
